BREAKING: Hauger-Thackery defies odds, completes Boston marathon at 22 weeks pregnant
British long-distance runner Calli Hauger-Thackery produced a remarkable display of resilience by completing the Boston Marathon while 22 weeks pregnant, describing the run as one of the most meaningful achievements of her career, Sport360NG reports.
According to BBC Sport, the 33-year-old, an Olympian for Great Britain, crossed the finish line in 2 hours and 43 minutes. While the time was well below her personal best, it represented a significant accomplishment given the physical demands of pregnancy.

“I’m grateful that I got through that today. 26.2 miles is no easy feat and to do it this far into pregnancy, I’m super grateful,” she said.
Hauger-Thackery, who finished sixth in the 2025 edition with a time of 2:22:38, faced a far more challenging outing this year. Her race was disrupted early on when she suffered a trapped nerve in her glute around the five-mile mark, forcing an unscheduled stop for medical attention.
“I had to dash into the medical tent because I had this crazy trapped nerve. I genuinely couldn’t even pick up my right leg properly. I was dragging it,” she explained.
She required further treatment at mile 11 but managed to continue after receiving support from race medics. The demands of pregnancy also led to additional brief stops during the opening half of the race.
“I had two wee stops, as you do when you’re pregnant, you need them more than ever, but this was all before mile 13,” she added.
Despite the early setbacks, Hauger-Thackery found her rhythm after the halfway point, delivering a much stronger second half performance.
“The second half felt flawless, like I was in tune with my body. I felt a million dollars. There were many times before halfway I didn’t think I was going to finish,” she said.
Although her finishing time did not match her usual standards, the British runner emphasised the deeper significance of the feat, highlighting resilience, adaptability, and determination under extraordinary circumstances.
