The club has been without a permanent leader since February, when Matt Beard was relieved of his duties. Amber Whiteley has been serving as interim coach for the rest of the 2024-25 season, Sport360NG reports.

Taylor’s departure from City came in March, just days before the Women’s League Cup final.

Speaking on his new role, Taylor said, “Everyone involved in football recognizes the club’s rich history, stature, and potential. I’m excited to take on this challenge.”

He added, “Our goal is to build a team that fans can take pride in, one that delivers attractive football and hopefully achieves success.”

Taylor’s journey with Manchester City started in 2011 within their academy setup, before being promoted to head coach in 2020.

During his tenure, he secured an FA Cup title in his debut season and the League Cup in 2022. His team narrowly missed out on the Women’s Super League crown last season, finishing second on goal difference.

Last term, Liverpool ended the campaign in seventh place, trailing champions Chelsea by 35 points.
