PSG beat Bayern in nine-goal thriller to take narrow advantage into second leg
Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain produced a dramatic performance to defeat Bayern Munich 5-4 in a remarkable first-leg clash of their UEFA Champions League semi-final in Paris, Sport360NG reports.
The high-scoring encounter entered the record books as the first European semi-final in which both sides netted at least four goals. It also matched the joint-highest scoring semi-final in European Cup history, equalling the nine-goal contest between Rangers and Eintracht Frankfurt in 1960.
Despite the flurry of goals, Bayern’s experienced goalkeeper Manuel Neuer endured a difficult outing, failing to register a single save throughout the match.
PSG appeared to be in firm control at one stage, but the German giants mounted a late response. Dayot Upamecano and Luis Díaz struck within three minutes to reduce the deficit to 5-4 by the 68th minute, keeping Bayern firmly in contention ahead of the decisive return leg in Germany next week.
