Ezinne Kalu Signs for Wuhan Shengfan Ahead of 2025/26 WCBA Season
Nigerian international guard Ezinne Kalu has signed with Chinese Women’s Basketball Association side Wuhan Shengfan ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, Sport360NG reports.
The 33-year-old, a four-time FIBA Women’s AfroBasket winner, extends her stay in China after spending last season with Zhejiang, where she impressed with averages of 21.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.5 steals across 33 appearances.
Kalu recently played a pivotal role in helping Nigeria’s women’s team secure a record-extending fifth straight AfroBasket crown in Ivory Coast, sealing qualification for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in the process.
Her career has taken her across several top European leagues, with stints in France (Landerneau), Germany (Stars), Hungary (Vasas Akademia), Italy (Roma), Portugal (Olivais and Clube Desportivo Torres Novas), Russia (Dynamo Kursk), and Turkey (Kayseri), before her move to the WCBA last year.
Individually, Kalu was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2019 AfroBasket in Senegal and earned a spot in the Eurobasket.com Italian Serie A1 All-Imports Team in 2024. She was also part of Nigeria’s historic run at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where D’Tigress advanced to the quarter-finals.
Wuhan Shengfan will now look to tap into her vast experience and scoring prowess as they push for domestic honours in the upcoming season.
