Alcaraz Defeats Lehecka to Clinch Second Queen’s Club Title

Carlos Alcaraz battled past a resilient Jiri Lehecka to win his second Queen’s Club Championship title on Sunday, edging a thrilling final 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-2.

The world number two captured his 21st career title—and fifth of the 2025 season—after an intense contest that tested him for over two hours. Lehecka, who had ousted British number one Jack Draper in the semi-finals, once again proved a worthy opponent and pushed Alcaraz to a deciding set.

The Czech star, one of only a handful of players to beat Alcaraz this year, struggled to match the Spaniard’s intensity early on. But after losing the first set, Lehecka found his rhythm in the second. He held his nerve in a high-quality tie-break, even shaking off a stunning lob from Alcaraz to fire back with an ace and force a third set.

However, the reigning Wimbledon champion quickly reasserted control in the decider. Alcaraz broke early and surged through the set with trademark aggression and precision, wrapping up his 18th straight win and sending a clear message ahead of his title defence at SW19.

“It’s amazing to lift this trophy again,” Alcaraz said after the match. “I came here without big expectations, just hoping to adapt to the grass. It’s always special playing here, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.”

Alcaraz had taken time to find his footing on grass after a gruelling clay-court season that culminated in his French Open triumph earlier this month. But by the end of the final, he looked fully at ease on the surface, producing blistering winners and dominating on serve.

Despite a spirited second-set fightback, Lehecka couldn’t maintain his level in the third. The 23-year-old had previously beaten Alcaraz in Doha earlier this year, and for a time looked capable of repeating the feat, especially after his strong tie-break performance.

But as the Queen’s crowd cheered on a spectacular contest, Alcaraz found another gear. With Wimbledon starting on June 30, the Spaniard now heads to London’s All England Club as one of the clear favourites to lift a third consecutive title.
