Ajibade Set for PSG Switch After Atlético Exit

Super Falcons skipper Rasheedat Ajibade is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain, with reports indicating the French giants have reached an agreement to sign the Nigerian forward. The move would see her team up with compatriot Jennifer Echegini in Paris, Sport360NG reports.

Ajibade, 25, has been without a club since leaving Atlético Madrid in June and has drawn interest from several European sides as well as clubs in the American NWSL. French media suggest her transfer to PSG is all but sealed, with only paperwork left before she is unveiled.

The winger would become the second Nigerian in PSG’s women’s team, linking with Echegini as the Parisians reinforce their squad ahead of the new season and their Champions League campaign.

Her impending move follows a brilliant summer in which she captained Nigeria to a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations crown in Morocco. Ajibade shone at the tournament, scoring once, providing two assists, and collecting three Player of the Match awards on her way to being named MVP and making the Team of the Tournament.

Blessed with speed, energy, and versatility, she had been a target for several NWSL clubs, but PSG appear to have secured her signature in a major boost to their ambitions at home and abroad.
