Tonic FC Sends Five Players to Portuguese Side FC Esmoriz
Lagos-based grassroots outfit Tonic Football Club has announced that five of its players have secured moves to Portuguese club FC Esmoriz, Sport360NG reports.
Founded only six months ago with Esmoriz as its parent club, Tonic FC made its debut in the recently concluded Nationwide League One campaign, narrowly missing out on promotion.
Speaking on the development, the club’s General Overseer, Prince Dapo Ajibade, said Tonic FC was established with the vision of identifying and nurturing raw talent from the grassroots.
“Tonic FC is a proper football hub right in the heart of Ikorodu, Lagos. What you’re seeing now is only the beginning, we have more young players who will soon make the step up to the professional stage,” Ajibade said.
Among the five players making the switch is 6ft 9in goalkeeper Ayuba Oyetola, who will be heading to Portugal alongside his teammates in the coming weeks to begin their professional careers.
