McLaren’s Lando Norris reinforced his bid for a maiden Formula 1 title with a commanding victory at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, stretching his championship lead over teammate and title contender Oscar Piastri to 24 points, Sport360NG reports.

Norris’ win, his second in a row, puts him in a strong position with just three races remaining in the season. However, the spotlight was shared with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who produced a remarkable comeback to finish third despite starting from the pit lane and suffering an early puncture.

Verstappen’s performance, closing in on Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli in the closing laps, is being hailed as one of the season’s most impressive drives. Still, the result leaves him 49 points adrift of Norris, effectively placing his championship hopes out of reach.

Piastri, meanwhile, finished fifth after receiving a 10-second penalty for a collision, challenging Mercedes’ George Russell late in the race but ultimately falling short.

Key takeaways from an enthralling Sao Paulo GP:

Norris’ weekend-long dominance further cements his position as a serious title contender.

Verstappen’s recovery drive stands out as a highlight of the season.

Piastri’s championship challenge appears to be fading in the final stages of the season.
