Football community pays tribute after Macclesfield forward Ethan McLeod dies aged 21

Tributes have continued to pour in from across the football world following the death of Macclesfield FC forward Ethan McLeod, who was killed in a road accident while returning from an away fixture, Sport360NG reports.

Macclesfield confirmed on Wednesday that the 21-year-old was involved in a car accident on the M1 on Tuesday night after travelling back from Bedford Town.

In a club statement, Macclesfield announced the loss with what it described as “the heaviest of hearts”, paying glowing tribute to a player it said had become an integral part of the first-team squad.

McLeod was remembered not only for his ability on the pitch but also for his character and influence within the dressing room. The club described him as a talented and highly respected professional whose commitment and attitude left a lasting impression on teammates and staff alike.

Wolves added that McLeod’s younger brother, Conor, is currently part of the club’s under-21 squad and said support would be provided to the family. A minute’s silence will be observed ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Brentford.
