Brentford Not Ruling Out Mbeumo Stay Amid Manchester United Pursuit

Brentford’s director of football, Phil Giles, says it remains a possibility that star forward Bryan Mbeumo could stay at the club next season, despite growing interest from Manchester United.

The Red Devils have already tabled two offers for the 25-year-old Cameroon international, with the latest reportedly valued at around £62.5 million. Mbeumo is believed to be eager for a move to Old Trafford and has expressed his desire to make the switch.

In an interview with BBC Sport on Monday, Giles acknowledged the level of attention surrounding Mbeumo but made it clear Brentford will only entertain a transfer if it meets their expectations.

“He had a brilliant campaign and naturally there’s been significant interest,” Giles said. “Bryan has aspirations for his career, and that’s completely understandable. But it’s not out of the question that he remains with us next season, provided we agree on that outcome.”

Giles underlined that any departure would have to be on the club’s terms.

“Every club will tell you the same – if the deal isn’t right, it won’t happen,” he stated. “He’s one of our top performers, arguably the best, and keeping your best players isn’t a bad thing.”

Meanwhile, Giles also confirmed that club captain Christian Norgaard is edging closer to a move to Arsenal.

Previous reports indicated that Brentford and the Gunners had reached an agreement on a deal worth up to £15 million, including add-ons, for the Denmark international midfielder.

“We’ve been in discussions with Arsenal over the past week or so,” Giles revealed. “The deal isn’t finalised yet, but it’s progressing. If it goes through, it will be well-deserved. He’s been a fantastic leader for us, and we’re open about the interest in him.”
