Super Falcons Reveal Jersey Numbers for 2024 WAFCON in Morocco
The Super Falcons have released the official squad numbers for their 24-player roster ahead of the 13th edition of the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, currently underway in Morocco.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade will lead the team wearing jersey number 15, while forwards Asisat Oshoala and Ifeoma Onumonu have been assigned numbers 8 and 9, respectively. Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie remains with her familiar number 16, even though Tochukwu Oluehi holds on to the traditional number 1 shirt.
Al Ittihad defender Ashleigh Plumptre will sport number 5, a change from the number 4 she wore at the last WAFCON in Morocco in 2022 and the number 2 she used at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Osinachi Ohale will now wear number 4, while Rinsola Babajide, who plays for UD Tenerife, will wear number 2.
In midfield, Christy Ucheibe takes on the legendary number 10 shirt, with Deborah Abiodun opting for number 13. Toni Payne retains her number 7 jersey, and crowd favourite Michelle Alozie sticks with number 22. Veteran winger Francesca Ordega and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Jennifer Echegini will wear numbers 17 and 12, respectively.
This year’s tournament features 12 national teams competing for the continental crown. Since the competition began in 1998, only Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and South Africa have claimed the prestigious title.
