Man United Submit Improved £70m Bid for Brentford Star Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United have tabled a third offer for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, with the deal potentially rising to £70 million.

The proposal reportedly includes an initial payment of £65 million, along with a further £5 million in performance-related add-ons. Brentford are yet to formally respond to the latest bid.

United remain determined to land the Cameroon international and are pushing to finalise the transfer before flying to the United States on Tuesday for their pre-season tour. The squad will spend the bulk of their 13-day trip in Chicago, where new manager Rúben Amorim hopes to integrate Mbeumo into his tactical plans.

While United have recently been linked with Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, Mbeumo has remained their top attacking target. The 25-year-old netted 20 goals in the Premier League last season, attracting attention from several clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, now managed by his former coach Thomas Frank.

However, Mbeumo is understood to favour a move to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Brentford could face further pressure in attack, as striker Yoane Wissa has emerged as a transfer target for Newcastle United.

Amorim has been vocal about United’s attacking inefficiency last season. The Red Devils managed just 44 goals in the Premier League, their lowest tally in a top-flight campaign since their 1973-74 relegation season.

United have already added Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha and Spanish defender Diego León to their ranks this summer. Should Mbeumo join, Bruno Fernandes may be deployed in a deeper midfield role, with Cunha expected to occupy one of the advanced positions behind the central striker in Amorim’s preferred system.

The arrival of Mbeumo would further cast doubt over the futures of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, and Antony, all of whom remain out of favour under the current regime.

Manchester United begin their Premier League campaign against Arsenal at Old Trafford on August 17.
