Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has described his sensational transfer to Galatasaray as the perfect opportunity to fully express himself, both as a footballer and individual, Sport360NG reports.

The Nigerian star completed a record-breaking €75m switch from Napoli to the Turkish champions, making him the most expensive signing in Turkish football history. He was officially unveiled on Wednesday night in Istanbul, where thousands of ecstatic supporters flooded the Atatürk Airport and filled the streets to welcome him.

In his first interview with the club, Osimhen shared his excitement and emotional connection to Galatasaray, stating that the club gives him the freedom to be himself.

“This is where I can truly express who I am, through my football and everything else,” he said in an interview published on the club’s official YouTube channel.

The 26-year-old also expressed gratitude to the Galatasaray leadership for making the transfer possible. He specifically thanked club president, the vice president, technical advisor George Gardi, and head coach Okan Buruk for playing key roles in securing the move.

“I’m really thankful to everyone who made this happen. I chose Galatasaray because I love this place, and I feel comfortable here,” Osimhen stated.

Having previously spent a loan spell at the Turkish club, Osimhen noted that the passionate support of Galatasaray fans was a major factor in his decision to make the move permanent.

He praised the supporters who followed his arrival flight and turned out in large numbers to welcome him, calling it a sign of genuine affection.

“I want to thank the fans who tracked our flight and came out to receive me. Their love means a lot. I’m determined to give everything for this club,” he added.

Now officially a Galatasaray player, Osimhen says he is looking forward to reconnecting with the fans and beginning a new chapter in his career.

“I’m excited to be back. This is home for me now,” he concluded.

Osimhen’s €75m fee shatters the previous Turkish transfer record held by Youssef En-Nesyri, who joined Fenerbahçe for €19.5m. It also surpasses Galatasaray’s past big-money signings, including Gabriel Sara (€18m), Mario Jardel (€17m), and Nicolo Zaniolo (€15m).
