Super Eagles head coach Eric Sékou Chelle has revealed an ambitious long-term goal, saying he hopes to become the first African to take charge of European heavyweights Real Madrid, Sport360NG reports.

The Malian-born tactician, who currently leads Nigeria’s national team, made the declaration while discussing his career aspirations, underlining his determination to reach the pinnacle of club football in Europe.

“My dream is to become the first African coach to manage Real Madrid,” Chelle said.

Chelle’s profile has continued to rise following his recent success with the Super Eagles, whom he guided to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco — a campaign that further strengthened his standing on the continental stage.

His comments have since sparked wide discussion within the football community, with many viewing his ambition as reflective of the growing recognition and influence of African coaches on the global game.
