D’Tigress arrive in France for FIBA women’s world cup qualifying tournament
Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have arrived in Lyon, France as preparations intensify for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup qualifying tournament, Sport360NG reports.
The African champions landed in the French city on Monday ahead of the competition scheduled to take place from March 11 to March 15.
Nigeria will compete in a round-robin format against Colombia, South Korea, the Philippines, and host nation France, with teams battling for spots at the next edition of the global showpiece.
The qualifying tournament forms part of the pathway organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to determine the nations that will advance to the Women’s Basketball World Cup.
D’Tigress, who have established themselves as a dominant force in African women’s basketball in recent years, will be targeting strong performances in Lyon as they aim to secure qualification for the tournament.
The Nigerian team is expected to commence training immediately, with the technical crew set to focus on tactical adjustments and player fitness ahead of their opening fixture on March 11.
