Las Vegas to Stage 2026 World Cup Draw at Iconic Sphere Venue
Las Vegas is set to host the official draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on December 5, according to multiple reports on Tuesday. The event will take place at The Sphere, the cutting-edge entertainment venue that opened in 2023, Sport360NG reports.
Sources including ESPN and Mexico’s TUDN confirm that the draw for the expanded 48-team tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be held in the Nevada city. The draw will divide the qualified nations into 12 groups of four.
This won’t be the first time Las Vegas has played a role in World Cup proceedings. The city also hosted the draw for the 1994 edition, which was the last time the U.S. was the primary host. Interestingly, Las Vegas was not among the match venues in 1994, and the same will apply in 2026.
The Sphere, which seats 17,500 and features a massive 54,000-square-meter LED screen, is expected to provide a striking backdrop for the ceremony. Its futuristic design and capacity for immersive visual experiences reportedly made it a top candidate for FIFA’s event.
