The draw will be particularly galling for City fans as Arsenal’s advantage grows at the top. Guardiola’s side dominated possession with 67.6% and registered 14 shots, but only four were on target. The visitors also face renewed injury concerns: Gonzalez was replaced at halftime after a knee knock, Rodri returned from a long-term hamstring issue, and Savinho left the field in the second half following a string of missed chances. Defender Nathan Ake, however, was able to continue after an early scare.

City’s inability to convert chances, highlighted by Gvardiol’s effort off the post, leaves them with just a point as January promises a demanding schedule of eight more fixtures.

Sunderland Shine: Mukiele Key to Clean Sheet

For Sunderland, the point was cause for celebration. Despite missing five players currently at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Black Cats continue to impress under Regis le Bris. Mukiele was pivotal, containing Haaland throughout and contributing three tackles and five clearances, demonstrating the quality that has seen him play for PSG, RB Leipzig, and Bayer Leverkusen.

Sunderland could have secured all three points as Brobbey and Mayenda were denied by Donnarumma in key moments. Still, the point cements their strong return to the Premier League, leaving them seventh and just one point behind Manchester United and Chelsea.
