BREAKING: NWFL Player Ihotu John Rebecca abducted on Benin expressway, family appeals for urgent support
The family of Ihotu John Rebecca has called for immediate assistance following her reported abduction along the Benin Expressway, with the kidnappers allegedly demanding a ₦20 million ransom for her release, Sport360NG reports.

Rebecca, a player with Pacesetter Queens FC in the NWFL Premiership, was said to have been seized while travelling home. Specific details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but relatives confirmed that contact has been made by the abductors, who have issued a ransom demand.

Describing the development as alarming, the family urged well-meaning Nigerians and stakeholders within the football community to rally support toward securing her freedom.
“This is a young woman who has committed herself to competing at the highest level of domestic women’s football in Nigeria,” a family representative said. “At this moment, her safety is our utmost concern, and we are appealing for swift intervention.”
The appeal has been directed at football administrators, club officials, sponsors, government authorities and members of the public who may be able to assist.

As of the time of this report, security agencies are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
