BREAKING: Hakimi set to miss UCL second leg clash against Bayern
Achraf Hakimi will be unavailable for several weeks after sustaining a thigh injury during UEFA Champions League action, dealing a significant blow to Paris Saint-Germain ahead of a crucial semi-final second leg, Sport360NG reports.
The Moroccan full-back completed the entire match and registered an assist for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as PSG edged Bayern Munich 5-4 in a thrilling first-leg encounter in Paris.
In an official statement, PSG confirmed the defender suffered a right thigh injury and is expected to remain under medical supervision for the coming weeks.
The setback rules Hakimi out of the return leg in Munich scheduled for 6 May, leaving head coach Luis Enrique without one of his most reliable performers for the decisive fixture.
Hakimi had only recently returned to the starting XI after being withdrawn at half-time in PSG’s Ligue 1 victory over Angers. Despite showing signs of discomfort late in the Bayern clash, the 26-year-old continued after treatment as PSG had already used all available substitutions.
His absence presents a tactical challenge for the French champions, given his consistency and influence on both ends of the pitch this season.
Beyond club commitments, the injury has also cast doubt over Hakimi’s participation in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, which kicks off in the United States, Canada and Mexico in just over a month.
A key figure for both club and country, Hakimi played a pivotal role in PSG’s maiden European triumph last season and was instrumental in Morocco’s historic run to the semi-finals at the 2022 World Cup.
