LeBron James has acknowledged that the Philadelphia 76ers will need time to develop their on-court chemistry after beginning his new chapter with a 114-108 pre-season loss to the Brooklyn Nets, Sport360NG reports.

The 41-year-old, who joined Philadelphia in July on what he has described as the final contract of his illustrious NBA career, made his first appearance for the franchise as preparations intensify for the new season.

Despite the defeat, James delivered a solid individual performance, recording 10 points, four rebounds, five assists and one steal in 18 minutes during the first half.

James Calls for Patience as 76ers Find Their Rhythm

Speaking after the game, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer stressed that his new team-mates must continue working together to establish a better understanding on the court.

“We’re still trying to put each other in the position to be successful and complement each other the best way we can on the floor. But it’s going to take some time,” James said.

“Tonight was a good sample size for us to build on.”

James featured alongside several of Philadelphia’s key players, including Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, as the team looks to establish a competitive unit ahead of the new campaign.

Jaylen Brown led the scoring with 18 points, but Philadelphia ultimately fell short against Brooklyn in the pre-season encounter.

Historic Career Enters 24th NBA Season

James is preparing for a record-extending 24th NBA season, adding another chapter to a career that has established him as one of basketball’s greatest players.

The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player has enjoyed remarkable success across his career, winning two championships with the Miami Heat, one with the Cleveland Cavaliers and another with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He also holds the NBA’s all-time scoring record and has earned All-Star selection in each of the previous 22 seasons of his career.

His arrival in Philadelphia represents another significant move for the veteran forward, who left the Lakers in the summer after spending eight years with the franchise.

76ers Target First NBA Championship Since 1983

Philadelphia will be hoping James’ experience and leadership can help end the franchise’s long wait for an NBA championship.

The 76ers last won the title in 1983, and the addition of a player with James’ championship pedigree is expected to strengthen their ambitions of returning to the top of the league.

However, the defeat to Brooklyn offered an early reminder that assembling a successful team requires more than individual talent. Developing chemistry, establishing roles and improving coordination will be crucial as Philadelphia prepares for the regular season.

For James, the immediate priority is helping his new team-mates find their rhythm, with the veteran confident that the opening game provides a useful foundation on which to build.
