Osimhen Snubs Al Hilal’s Mega Deal, Opts to Stay in Europe
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has rejected a renewed blockbuster offer from Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal, choosing instead to remain in Europe amid growing interest from top-tier clubs, The PUNCH has learned.
Al Hilal, who recently appointed former Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi, had identified Osimhen as a key transfer target ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The Saudi outfit reportedly tabled a jaw-dropping €120 million offer for a three-year deal—equating to €40 million annually—in a fresh bid to secure the Nigerian forward’s signature.
Despite the eye-watering proposal, Osimhen, currently vacationing in Nigeria, turned down the offer. French outlet Foot Mercato reported that while the deal was “quite impressive,” it ultimately failed to sway the 26-year-old.
“Osimhen has decided to reject Al Hilal’s offer and now wishes to take his time before choosing his next club,” the report added.
This is the third time Osimhen has declined advances from Al Hilal, following previous offers of €30 million, €35 million, and most recently €45 million per year, according to Italian publication Calciomercato.
A post on X (formerly Twitter) by Onyebuchi Onokala, a close source to the player, confirmed the development:
“Victor Osimhen officially turns down Saudi club Al Hilal’s first offer. It was the same offer they made last year,” Onokala wrote.
Onokala also revealed that a major Italian club is “keen and ready to meet Osimhen’s wage demands,” while Turkish champions Galatasaray are making a strong push to sign him. The reported release clause does not appear to be an obstacle for the Istanbul-based club.
Galatasaray, where Osimhen previously enjoyed a successful loan spell—netting 37 goals in 41 appearances—remain eager to bring him back. Foot Mercato added that the Turkish side has now offered a new contract worth €26 million annually in a bid to land the prolific forward.
Meanwhile, renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also weighed in on the saga over the weekend. “Despite agreement between club to club with Napoli for €75m fee, Osimhen says no to the Saudi Pro League club. Galatasaray will insist on signing him with the race now open again,” Romano posted on X.
