In a move underscoring their joint commitment to youth development, gender equality, and grassroots sports, adidas and its Nigerian franchise partner, LATC, have donated 200 branded footballs to public schools across Lagos State.

The initiative, carried out in partnership with the Lagos State Sports Commission, will impact 20 schools across the state. The distribution is deliberately balanced to ensure both boys’ and girls’ teams benefit equally, reinforcing the message of inclusive participation in school sports.

To commemorate the gesture, Dave Thomas, CEO of adidas Global Emerging Markets, presented a symbolic football to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during a courtesy visit to the government house.

“Sport has the power to shape the future,” an adidas representative said. “This donation is more than just handing over footballs — it’s an investment in the health, potential, and leadership of young people across Lagos. Every child deserves a chance to play and succeed.”

LATC echoed similar sentiments, with Chief Strategy Officer Kingsley Oko stating that the donation aligns with the company’s mission to develop well-rounded students. “Through sports, children gain more than physical strength — they build confidence, discipline, and focus,” he said.

The Lagos State Sports Commission welcomed the contribution, praising it as a meaningful boost to the state’s grassroots sports programmes and an important step towards achieving gender balance in school sports.
