Ahmed Musa Vows to Revive Kano Pillars’ Glory

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has committed to reviving Kano Pillars Football Club and restoring its status as a leading force in African football.

Musa, recently appointed as the club’s general manager, made the pledge during a familiarisation meeting with Kano Pillars chairman Alhaji Ali Umar and members of the board. According to a statement from the club’s Media and Communications Directorate, the meeting took place on Monday in Kano.

The former CSKA Moscow and Leicester City striker expressed a strong desire to work closely with all stakeholders in reshaping the fortunes of the four-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions.

“Kano Pillars is a historic club with a rich legacy, but recent years have seen a decline,” Musa said. “With collective effort and proper planning, we can restore its pride and push it back to the top—not just in Nigeria, but across Africa and even beyond.”

Drawing from his vast experience in Europe and his previous stint with the club, Musa said he was confident in his ability to contribute meaningfully to the team’s progress.

“I’ve played here, and I understand what the club means to the people. With the support of the board and everyone involved, I’m ready to do everything within my power to move the club forward,” he added.

Musa emphasised the need for unity, professionalism, and total commitment from players, management, fans, and other partners to ensure lasting success.

His appointment was recently approved by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf as part of a broader initiative to restructure and modernise the club in line with international standards.

Under Musa’s stewardship, the club is aiming to usher in a new era of growth and competitiveness in domestic and continental football.
