PSG Attempt to Hijack Osimhen’s Galatasaray Move Amid Napoli Snub

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly making a late move to snatch Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray’s grasp, following the striker’s omission from Napoli’s pre-season squad.

Osimhen is among six players left out of Napoli’s 30-man team currently preparing for the new campaign in Dimaro Folgarida under newly appointed coach Antonio Conte, Sport360NG reports.

The 26-year-old Nigerian returned to Napoli after a highly successful loan spell at Galatasaray, where he netted an impressive 37 goals in 41 appearances. Eager to make the switch permanent, Osimhen reportedly submitted a medical note excusing him from routine pre-season checks in a bid to push through the transfer.

But French giants PSG have now entered the fray, with L’Equipe reporting that sporting director Luis Campos has personally contacted the Nigerian forward. Campos, who was instrumental in bringing Osimhen to Lille in 2019, is hoping to leverage their past relationship to derail Galatasaray’s €75 million move.

Galatasaray are currently in discussions with Napoli to finalise the financial structure of the deal. While Osimhen remains interested in returning to the Turkish champions, PSG’s interest and a separate, high-paying offer from Saudi Arabia have added new layers to an already complex situation.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed via social media that talks between Napoli and Galatasaray have resumed. “Napoli sent their counter-proposal to Galatasaray and are now assessing the new terms. Osimhen is still waiting for developments,” Romano posted on Thursday.

Despite the mounting interest, not everyone believes PSG is the right fit. Bruno Satin, former agent of Napoli legend Kalidou Koulibaly, voiced his reservations, telling Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, “I’m not convinced PSG will pursue Osimhen. Luis Enrique prefers using players like Dembele in a false nine role, and adding a traditional striker like Victor could disrupt that setup.”

Although Osimhen’s release clause officially expired earlier this week, Napoli are holding firm on their €75 million valuation. The Serie A side are believed to be seeking €50 million upfront, with the remaining €25 million payable by 2026. Galatasaray have reportedly agreed to provide a letter of credit to guarantee the payment, though procedural delays could prolong the deal.

Alongside Osimhen, Napoli also left out Cyril Ngonge, Walid Cheddira, Jesper Lindstrom, Michael Folorunsho, Jens Cajuste, and Giuseppe Ambrosino from their pre-season camp, suggesting the club is in the midst of a broader reshuffle.
