Professional wrestling has lost one of its most iconic figures, as Hulk Hogan has died at the age of 71.

According to TMZ Sports, Hogan born Terry Bollea suffered cardiac arrest at his Florida residence. Despite swift intervention by emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The news has stunned the wrestling world, particularly as it comes shortly after his wife publicly dismissed recent concerns about his health.

Hogan’s death signals the end of a remarkable era in sports entertainment. He began his career with the American Wrestling Association before rising to global prominence in the 1980s through the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE). Known for his distinctive handlebar mustache, electric charisma, and the catchphrase “Whatcha gonna do, brother?”, Hogan became one of wrestling’s most recognizable and influential figures.

His legacy was further solidified during his tenure with World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where he co-founded the revolutionary New World Order (nWo) faction, transforming the sport’s landscape.

Beyond the ring, Hogan ventured into acting and reality TV. He appeared in multiple films and led the VH1 reality series Hogan Knows Best, which offered fans a glimpse into his personal life over four seasons.

At the time of his passing, Hogan’s net worth was estimated at around $25 million, earned through decades of wrestling contracts, merchandise sales, endorsements, acting gigs, and business ventures. In 2016, he famously won a $140 million lawsuit against media company Gawker, ultimately collecting approximately $31 million after settlements.

His personal finances also saw major setbacks, particularly following a costly divorce from his ex-wife Linda, which reportedly cost him 70% of his liquid assets, $3 million in cash, and nearly half of his business interests.

Nevertheless, Hogan rebounded through entrepreneurial efforts, notably with Hogan’s Beach Shop and Hogan’s Hangout, two Florida-based businesses that remain popular with fans.

He also represented several brands over the years, including Honey Nut Cheerios and 1-800 LoanMart, and even launched a short-lived pasta restaurant chain, Pastamania, during his WCW run.

Though controversies occasionally clouded his public image, Hogan’s impact on the world of professional wrestling and pop culture is indelible. His image and voice defined an era and inspired countless fans around the globe.

Hulk Hogan’s passing marks a monumental loss, but his legacy will endure through the memories, moments, and milestones he gave to generations of fans.
