Inter Milan Set Deadline for Lookman Deal Amid Stalled Talks with Atalanta

Inter Milan have reportedly set a final deadline for Atalanta to respond to their bid for Nigeria international Ademola Lookman, as talks over a summer transfer continue to stall.

The Serie A champions are eager to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new campaign and have identified the 27-year-old winger as a top target. Despite having reached a personal agreement with Lookman on a long-term deal worth around €4 million net per year, Inter’s €40 million offer remains €10 million short of Atalanta’s valuation.

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Inter are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress and have now warned that they will not wait indefinitely for Atalanta’s response.

“Lookman’s move to San Siro appeared to be on track following personal terms being agreed,” the report said. “However, the transfer now hangs in the balance as Atalanta remain firm on their €50 million asking price.”

Inter, unwilling to raise their bid, have begun exploring alternative options should talks collapse. Tuttosport further noted: “The Nerazzurri have no intention of matching La Dea’s valuation and will not modify their initial offer.”

Despite the stalemate, Lookman is said to be keen on a move to the San Siro. The Nigerian forward has reportedly rejected approaches from Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Napoli in favour of a switch to Inter.

Napoli, under new manager Antonio Conte, had explored the possibility of a swap deal involving Giacomo Raspadori, but Lookman declined the proposal. Barcelona’s interest, meanwhile, failed to materialise into a serious offer due to ongoing financial constraints.

Atalanta, anticipating a potential exit for Lookman, have been linked with Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee as a possible replacement. The Bergamo-based club is also managing changes in their attacking ranks, with Matteo Retegui recently completing a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah.
