Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, etched their names in history books once again on Sunday in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, after clinching a fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title with a decisive 78–64 win over Mali, Sport360NG reports.

The latest triumph not only reinforced Nigeria’s dominance on the continent but also extended their astonishing unbeaten streak in the tournament to 29 games, a run that began in 2015.

Now with seven AfroBasket titles, D’Tigress continue to close the gap on Senegal, the most successful team in the competition’s history with 11 championships. Once seen as underdogs, the Nigerian side has evolved into Africa’s premier force in women’s basketball, building a legacy that transcends mere title defenses.
