Vardy Linked with Cremonese Switch After Leicester Farewell

Jamie Vardy is in discussions over a possible move to Serie A side Cremonese, a club source has confirmed to AFP, Sport360NG reports.

Talks are said to be at an early stage following initial contact earlier this week between the newly promoted Italian side and the 38-year-old forward, who ended his long spell at Leicester City in the summer. Cremonese briefly climbed to the top of the Serie A table on Friday night after their 3-2 win over Sassuolo.

Vardy closed the chapter on a remarkable 13-year career with Leicester at the end of last season. Signed from non-league Fleetwood Town in 2012 while juggling football with factory work, he went on to become the symbol of one of English football’s most unlikely success stories.

He helped Leicester secure promotion to the Premier League in 2014 before spearheading their astonishing title triumph two years later, breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record by scoring in 11 straight league games. Vardy later claimed the Premier League Golden Boot in 2019-20 and lifted the FA Cup in 2021.

In total, he scored 200 goals in 500 appearances for Leicester, while also earning 26 caps for England and finding the net seven times at international level.
