Jamie Vardy scored his first Serie A double on Monday as Cremonese sealed a remarkable 3-1 win away to Bologna, continuing the 38-year-old striker’s impressive renaissance in Italy, Sport360NG reports.

The former Leicester City and England star delivered two trademark finishes either side of the interval, helping the promoted side hand Bologna their first home defeat of the season. The result lifts Cremonese to 11th on 17 points, while denying Bologna the chance to move within a point of league leaders AC Milan and Napoli.

Cremonese were already in front through Martin Payero’s 31st-minute strike when Vardy added a second five minutes later, latching onto Federico Bonazzoli’s through ball before slipping a composed finish between goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia’s legs.

Bologna briefly revived their hopes in first-half stoppage time as Riccardo Orsolini converted from the penalty spot. But Vardy restored Cremonese’s two-goal cushion just four minutes after the restart, racing onto Tommaso Barbieri’s first-time pass to score his fourth goal in nine appearances for the club.

Vardy joined Cremonese in September on a one-year contract, which includes an option for a further season should the team secure Serie A survival. He has spoken openly about embracing a new football culture with the Lombardy side, owned by local industrialist Giovanni Arvedi.
