Tottenham turn to Igor Tudor as interim boss following Frank dismissal

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Igor Tudor to take charge as interim head coach until the end of the season, following the dismissal of Thomas Frank earlier this week, Sport360NG reports.

Spurs opted for a short-term appointment with the club sitting five points above the Premier League relegation zone. Sources indicated that the hierarchy were keen to have a successor in place before players returned to training on Monday.

Tudor, 47, has been without a role since parting company with Juventus in October 2025 after an eight-match winless run left the Turin side eighth in Serie A. Despite that difficult spell, the Croatian arrives in north London with broad managerial experience across Europe.

His coaching résumé includes spells with Lazio, Marseille, Galatasaray and Udinese, while he lifted the Croatian Cup with hometown club Hajduk Split in 2013, the only major silverware of his managerial career to date.

As a player, Tudor enjoyed significant success during a nine-year stint with Juventus, winning two Serie A titles and featuring in the 2003 Champions League final, where the Italian giants finished runners-up.

He began and ended his playing career at Hajduk Split, retiring in 2008 at the age of 30 due to persistent ankle problems. Tudor also gained experience on loan with Trogir in Croatia and Siena in Italy. Internationally, he was part of the Croatia squad that reached the semi-finals of the 1998 World Cup, eventually securing a third-place finish.

Tottenham had explored several short-term alternatives before settling on Tudor. Former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic and ex-Red Bull Leipzig boss Marco Rose were among those considered.

While the Croatian’s appointment is initially temporary, he could yet enter the frame for the permanent role should he make a strong impression over the coming months.

Longer-term options remain under discussion. Former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is viewed as a leading candidate, with his contract as head coach of the United States men’s national team set to expire after this summer’s World Cup. Roberto De Zerbi, who recently left Marseille by mutual consent, is also regarded as a potential contender.
