BREAKING: CAF strips Senegal of 2025 AFCON title, declares Morocco champions
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has annulled Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) victory in January and awarded the 2025 title to Morocco, Sport360NG reports.
The decision follows an incident in the final when several Senegalese players temporarily left the pitch to protest a refereeing decision.
CAF’s statement on Tuesday confirmed that “the Senegal national team is declared to have forfeited the match,” originally a 1-0 victory, “with the result being officially recorded as 3-0” in favour of Morocco.
The ruling hands Morocco the continental crown and marks a dramatic conclusion to the 2025 AFCON tournament.
