Harry Kane scored and missed a penalty as Bayern Munich beat Tottenham 4-0 in a pre-season friendly
The England captain opened the scoring after expertly controlling a pinpoint long pass from Michael Olise and calmly finishing. However, just minutes later, Kane slipped while taking a penalty, sending the ball high over the crossbar, Sport360NG reports.
Bayern were in full control and doubled their lead on the hour mark when Konrad Laimer robbed Djed Spence before setting up Kingsley Coman to curl home.
With a raft of youngsters introduced in the second half, Kane among those replaced, the German champions added two more. Seventeen-year-old Lennart Karl smashed in a first-time strike from the edge of the box, while 18-year-old Jonah Kusi-Asare found the net with a superb effort from a tight angle.
It was Kane’s second outing against Spurs since his £86.4m move in 2023, having also featured in a friendly in north London last year. The 32-year-old remains Tottenham’s record scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances.
New signing Luis Diaz, recruited from Liverpool this summer, was also handed a start for Bayern.
Tottenham’s competitive campaign begins on Wednesday, 13 August, when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup in Udine.
