Sevilla Set to Offload Chidera Ejuke as Summer Rebuild Begins

La Liga side Sevilla are preparing to part ways with Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke as they begin a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Ejuke, 27, joined the Andalusian outfit last summer on a free transfer after his contract with Russian side CSKA Moscow came to an end. However, the Super Eagles forward struggled to make a lasting impression in Spain, managing just two goals and one assist in 25 league appearances.

Injuries and fitness concerns hampered Ejuke’s form throughout the season, with a hamstring issue sidelining him for a significant stretch. His inconsistency ultimately saw him fall down the pecking order.

Sevilla, who have claimed the UEFA Europa League title a record seven times, are undergoing a period of transition. The club has recently named Matias Almeyda as their new head coach and appointed Antonio Cordon as sporting director in a bid to steer the team back to competitiveness.

With financial constraints looming large, the club is looking to streamline its squad and offload players to create room for new arrivals. Ejuke is reportedly among those deemed surplus to requirements, and Sevilla are expected to entertain offers for the former Royal Antwerp man, whose current market value stands at €4 million according to Transfermarkt.

His potential replacement could be Bryan Gil, a product of Sevilla’s academy. The 24-year-old spent last season on loan from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and could be brought back into the fold on a permanent basis.
