Rockets overcome injury setback to edge Brave in tense finish

Trent Rockets battled through adversity to claim a four-wicket win over Southern Brave in the men’s Hundred at Trent Bridge, Sport360NG reports.

The contest was overshadowed by a worrying injury to Adam Hose, who dislocated his right ankle while fielding during the Brave’s innings of 140-4. Play was halted for around 10 minutes as the batter was taken to hospital, leaving Rockets a man down for the run chase.

The reply began shakily, with England’s Joe Root dismissed cheaply for six as the hosts slumped to 60-4. But a superb partnership between Tom Moores and Tom Banton turned the game around.

Moores, drafted in as an emergency replacement after injuries to Rockets’ wicketkeeping options, marked his first appearance of the campaign with a blistering 55 off 30 deliveries, smashing five sixes and four fours. Banton supported with a composed 49 from 38 balls, the pair adding 76 for the fifth wicket.

Despite both falling with victory in sight, Marcus Stoinis finished the job in style on his birthday, clearing the ropes with four balls remaining to guide Rockets to 145-6 from 96 deliveries.

The win lifts Rockets level on points with table-topping Northern Superchargers, while Brave slip to fourth place.

Sunday’s fixtures

Attention now shifts to Old Trafford, where Manchester Originals face Northern Superchargers in a much-anticipated cross-Pennine clash. The women’s match begins at 11:00 BST, followed by the men’s fixture at 14:30.

Elsewhere, Birmingham Phoenix host London Spirit, with the women’s game at 14:30 and the men’s contest at 18:00.
