Carabao cup semi-finals set: Manchester City to face Newcastle, Chelsea await Arsenal or Crystal Palace

The English Football League (EFL) has confirmed the draw for the Carabao Cup semi-finals, setting up a blockbuster clash between holders Newcastle United and Manchester City, Sport360NG reports.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will face the winners of the quarter-final tie between Arsenal and Crystal Palace, which is scheduled for Tuesday, December 23 at the Emirates Stadium.

The announcement, made late Wednesday on the EFL website, follows Manchester City’s 2-0 victory over Brentford and Newcastle’s dramatic stoppage-time win over Fulham, which secured their places in the last four. Newcastle’s progression was sealed by a late header from Lewis Miley.

Chelsea booked their semi-final spot with a 3-1 win away at Cardiff City, the side once managed by club legend Frank Lampard. Garnacho and Neto both scored braces to secure the victory.

The EFL confirmed that the first legs of the semi-finals will be played during the week commencing January 12, 2026, with the second legs scheduled for the week beginning February 2, 2026.
