Juventus Open Talks with Wilfred Ndidi Over Potential Bargain Transfer

Juventus have initiated discussions with Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi as they look to capitalise on Leicester City’s relegation with a potential cut-price summer move, according to Sport360 Nigeria.

Citing reports from Italian daily Tuttosport, the Turin giants have begun evaluating the financial terms surrounding the 28-year-old, whose current contract reportedly includes a release clause that could see him leave the King Power Stadium for just £9 million (approximately €10 million).

The Italian outlet described the situation as a “genuine opportunity” for Juventus, given Ndidi’s top-level experience and versatility in defensive midfield.

“The player in question is Wilfred Ndidi, 28, a holding midfielder. He’s currently at Leicester City, where an opening has emerged,” Tuttosport stated. “Following the club’s drop from the Premier League, a clause in Ndidi’s deal—signed last summer and valid through 2027—has been triggered, enabling him to depart for slightly over €10 million.”

Ndidi has been a key figure for Leicester, amassing over 300 appearances since joining from Genk in 2017. While he wasn’t part of the 2016 title-winning squad, he played crucial roles in the club’s FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs.

Interest in the Super Eagles midfielder is widespread. Premier League rivals Manchester United, Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Everton are all reportedly monitoring his status. Interest also extends beyond England, with Real Betis and Saudi outfit Al Ahli said to be tracking developments.

However, Juventus’ stature—combined with their return to the UEFA Champions League—may put them in pole position.

“Tudor’s side offers prestige, solid financial backing, and top-tier European football—all of which are attractive to the Nigerian, who, interestingly, hails from the same city as Victor Osimhen,” the report noted.

Ndidi is being lined up as a possible successor to Weston McKennie, whose future in Turin is uncertain amid stalled contract talks.

The Nigerian midfielder signed a three-year extension with Leicester last July, but the club’s drop into the Championship and the low release fee have made his departure increasingly likely.

Juventus, who recently secured Canadian striker Jonathan David on a free transfer, are believed to see Ndidi as another smart acquisition—especially considering his past market valuation once exceeded €60 million.
