BREAKING: Super Eagles mourn with Ndidi after father’s death in road accident
The Super Eagles have sent messages of condolence to captain Wilfred Ndidi following the death of his father, Sunday Ndidi, who died on Tuesday after a road traffic accident, Sport360NG reports.
The retired military officer was reportedly involved in a crash in Umunede, Delta State, and was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital in Agbor.
In a statement posted on the national team’s official X account, Super Eagles expressed sympathy with the midfielder and his family.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time, Wilfred,” the statement said.
Ndidi’s club, Besiktas, also confirmed the incident on Tuesday, describing the loss as tragic.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer Wilfred Ndidi’s esteemed father, Sunday Ndidi, in a fatal traffic accident,” the club said in a statement.
The Turkish side added: “May Allah grant mercy to the deceased; we extend our condolences to our footballer Wilfred Ndidi, his family, and loved ones.”
