Ros Canter Clinches Luhmühlen Title to Cap Remarkable Run of Form

Olympic gold medallist Ros Canter continued her sensational season by capturing victory at the Luhmühlen Horse Trials in Germany, marking her second five-star triumph in just six weeks.

Riding Izilot DHI, Canter delivered a composed performance across all phases to secure her fourth career win at the elite level of eventing. She had trailed compatriot and defending champion Laura Collett after both the dressage and cross-country stages. However, Collett, riding London 52, dropped a rail in the decisive showjumping round, which pushed her down to third place and opened the door for Canter to take the title.

Reflecting on her win, Canter said: “It’s a bit surreal, to be honest. I’m incredibly proud because success in this sport isn’t just about riding skill – confidence plays a huge part, and that’s something I’ve had to work really hard on.”

Already crowned European champion, the 39-year-old was part of the British team that won gold at the Paris Olympics and recently secured a memorable second win at the prestigious Badminton Horse Trials in May.

“The dream has always been there – I grew up watching the likes of Badminton and Burghley – but I never imagined I’d be the one winning them,” she added.

Canter also dedicated her latest achievement to her late coach and mentor Caroline Moore, who passed away in March.

“Caroline would have thought this was very special,” she said.
