Portuguese international and Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has tragically passed away at the age of 28 following a road accident in Spain.
The fatal incident occurred on the A-52 motorway, around kilometre 65, close to the town of Palacios de Sanabria in Zamora province.
Born in 1996, Jota had become an integral part of both Liverpool’s attacking force and Portugal’s national team. News of his untimely death has sent shockwaves throughout the global football community.
According to Spanish outlet MARCA, the crash happened on Thursday, with Jota confirmed dead at the scene.
“Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota dies in a traffic accident in the province of Zamora,” the publication reported in a brief but somber announcement.
Renowned for his sharp attacking instincts, relentless work rate, and adaptability across the front line, Jota earned widespread admiration in the football world.
