PUBG MOBILE Launches African Servers, Improves Gaming experience with Additions
Gamers in Nigeria and South Africa are set to enjoy smoother gameplay following the launch of PUBG MOBILE’s first dedicated servers on the African continent. The new infrastructure aims to significantly reduce latency and enhance the overall experience for millions of players across the region.
The mobile gaming powerhouse announced the initiative on Monday as part of its wider “For Africa, By Africa” campaign—a strategy focused on regional expansion, community engagement, and the celebration of African culture within the game.
Brian Gu, head of PUBG MOBILE Africa, emphasized the importance of delivering a seamless gaming experience, especially for competitive players.
“We know how crucial smooth, stable gameplay is to our players, and that’s why we’ve rolled out a Server Node Selection feature tailored to the unique needs of our African community,” he said.
Alongside the technical upgrades, PUBG MOBILE is introducing a range of culturally inspired content. A new Maasai-themed outfit—featuring the distinctive colors and patterns of the iconic East African tribe—is now available in-game. The popular “Mapangale” dance, which went viral on TikTok, is also being added as a playable emote under the new “Afro Frenzy” feature.
In a further nod to African heritage, a digital version of Mancala, one of the continent’s oldest and most cherished board games, is set to be integrated into the game in the coming months.
PUBG MOBILE has also unveiled a packed schedule of community events and promotions across Africa. July’s Airdrop Festival Carnival will offer prizes including Infinix smartphones and Oraimo accessories. Meanwhile, the ongoing Africa Cup Tournament continues to pit national teams against each other, ahead of the grand finals set for September 6–7.
August will see the launch of the TikTok x PUBG MOBILE Dance Challenge, with weekly prizes on offer for standout participants.
The series of updates and events follows extensive feedback from PUBG MOBILE’s growing African fanbase, many of whom have long called for better server support and more authentic cultural representation in the game.
