Pacquiao vs Mayweather in Talks for a Rematch in December
Eight years after their record-breaking clash, boxing legends Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are in discussions for a potential rematch this time as an exhibition bout likely to take place in December 2025.
According to reports from Marca, Pacquiao confirmed negotiations are ongoing, stating, “We’re working on it.” While the proposed fight wouldn’t count as a professional contest, the idea of the two former champions stepping into the ring again has stirred excitement among fans worldwide.
Their initial showdown in May 2015 was one of the most anticipated bouts in boxing history, generating over $300 million in revenue. Mayweather emerged victorious via unanimous decision, though Pacquiao later criticized the outcome, insisting he had landed the cleaner punches and accusing Mayweather of being overly defensive.
Mayweather, who has since shifted his focus to exhibition fights, previously claimed he had moved on from the rivalry. However, his continued presence in the exhibition circuit suggests a rematch isn’t out of the question provided the conditions are right.
Should the bout materialize, it is expected to draw massive attention, not just from long-time followers of the sport but also from a younger, digital-first audience. Las Vegas, the site of their original meeting, is currently being considered as a possible venue.
Though nothing has been finalized, a Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch could become one of the most talked-about sporting events of 2025.
