Jack Draper Withdraws from Toronto and Cincinnati Events Due to Arm Injury
British number one Jack Draper has pulled out of the upcoming ATP tournaments in Toronto and Cincinnati as he continues to recover from an arm issue.
The 23-year-old, who made a breakthrough by reaching the US Open semi-finals last year, revealed the setback via social media, explaining that he sustained the injury to his left arm following his Wimbledon campaign.
“It’s nothing serious,” Draper assured fans. “But I need to ensure it’s fully healed so I can finish the season strong.”
Despite missing the Canadian Open (starting 26 July) and the Cincinnati Open (beginning 4 August), Draper is aiming to be fit in time for the US Open, which kicks off on 24 August in New York.
Draper exited Wimbledon in the second round this year after a four-set defeat to Marin Cilic of Croatia.
He joins a growing list of high-profile absentees from the Canadian Open, with newly crowned Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner and 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic also opting to skip the tournament.
