Galatasaray Set to Unveil Osimhen After €75m Move from Napoli
Victor Osimhen is expected to land in Istanbul this week as Turkish giants Galatasaray move closer to officially presenting the Nigerian forward following the completion of his high-profile transfer from Napoli, Sport360NG reports.
According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Galatasaray vice president Abdullah Kavukcu is scheduled to travel to Italy between Tuesday and Wednesday to finalise the €75m deal, after which he is likely to return with Osimhen ahead of the club’s official unveiling.
The Super Eagles star is set to be introduced to Galatasaray fans during their home clash against Lazio on Saturday, August 2, marking the club’s marquee signing of the summer.
The financial terms of the agreement reportedly include an initial payment of €40m to Napoli, with the remaining €35m to be paid by the end of 2026. Osimhen is expected to earn an annual salary of €16m in Istanbul.
Although the 25-year-old spent last season with Napoli, he is already being touted as the key figure to lead Galatasaray’s title ambitions. Last campaign, he featured in 41 matches across all competitions, scoring 37 goals and providing eight assists.
In a video interview shared on a Nigerian YouTube channel, Osimhen spoke candidly about his journey from growing up in a one-room apartment in Lagos to becoming one of the world’s most sought-after strikers.
“There were nine of us in one room, my parents and seven siblings. People who know me understand I would have made it even without football, but growing up in those conditions wasn’t easy,” he said.
He also recalled having to temporarily abandon football to take up menial jobs. “There were years I had to pause football to carry water and do other odd jobs, just to survive. But deep down, I knew football was my true path,” he added.
Osimhen reflected on how his community shaped his work ethic: “In my neighbourhood, nothing came easy. You had to fight for everything. That’s where my hunger was born.”
Despite his success, the striker has previously opened up about the challenges that accompany fame. In an interview posted on social media, he revealed how public attention once prevented him from joining his daughter on her first outing.
“Fame can be frustrating. Sometimes you just want to do normal things, but you can’t,” he said. “I feel most at ease when I’m with regular people, even if I have security around me. This is my life, and I want to live it my way.”
As Galatasaray prepare for a new era, the arrival of Victor Osimhen signals both ambition and a deep belief in a player whose journey from the streets of Lagos to the grand stages of Europe continues to inspire.
