Spurs Win Arsenal 1-0 in Tight Preseason Clash

The Senegal international broke the deadlock just before the interval, converting in the 45th minute to hand Ange Postecoglou’s side the lead in what was largely a tactical and low-tempo affair.

Clear-cut chances were few and far between as both North London rivals focused more on shape and structure than attacking flair. Midfield tensions flared briefly, with Rodrigo Bentancur shown a yellow card in the 36th minute. Late bookings were also handed to Arsenal’s Mikel Merino and Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson during stoppage time.

While the match ultimately served as a tune-up for the new campaign, it was Spurs who left with a morale-boosting win, and local bragging rights, after edging their arch-rivals in this summer dress rehearsal.
