Thomas Partey Granted Bail After Facing Multiple Sexual Offence Charges
Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been released on conditional bail after appearing in court to face multiple charges of sexual offences, Sport360NG reports.
The 32-year-old Ghanaian international stood before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, charged with five counts of rape involving two women, and one count of sexual assault against a third. The alleged incidents are said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022, during his time at the Premier League club.
The charges come just days after Partey officially departed Arsenal following the expiration of his contract at the end of June. His case has been referred to the Old Bailey, where he is expected to appear on 2 September.
Partey arrived in court dressed in a black zip-up jumper and trousers, carrying a navy blazer. During the brief hearing, he confirmed his identity and acknowledged the bail terms imposed on him.
As part of those conditions, he is prohibited from contacting the three complainants and must inform the police of any permanent change of address or plans for overseas travel.
The Metropolitan Police began investigating in early 2022, following a report of rape made in February of that year.
Partey has denied all allegations through his legal representative, Jenny Wiltshire, who previously stated that her client is eager to clear his name.
Meanwhile, reports suggest the midfielder is on the verge of signing a one-year deal with Spanish side Villarreal, with an option to extend for another season.
