Anthony Joshua, Eddie Hearn Set Sights on Football with New Player Agency

British boxing star Anthony Joshua and renowned promoter Eddie Hearn are branching into football with the launch of a new player management agency, aiming to shake up the sport by attracting some of the biggest names, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Sport360NG reports.

The ambitious project, powered by Hearn’s Matchroom Sport and Joshua’s growing global influence, especially in the Middle East, is designed to provide a comprehensive package for footballers. The agency plans to offer services ranging from contract negotiations and sponsorship deals to lifestyle management and post-career planning.

“We’ve been working behind the scenes on this for months,” Hearn revealed in an interview with Daily Mail. “Then AJ teased it on Instagram and things just exploded. We were flooded with interest, from players, clubs, sponsors, and the media.”

Far from starting small, the agency is targeting the top end of the football world. Hearn made it clear that they’re not looking to manage lower-league talent but intend to compete at the elite level from the outset.

Joshua’s presence and connections in the Gulf region have already proven valuable. The two-time heavyweight champion has reportedly held talks with Ronaldo, who currently plays for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

“AJ can speak to anyone in the game,” Hearn said. “Most agencies struggle to get face time with top players, that’s not a problem for AJ. In fact, several big names have already reached out.”

While no official start date has been announced, early signs suggest serious interest from top players. Hearn hinted that subtle but telling responses have already come in from high-profile footballers.

“Let’s just say there were a few eye emojis sent our way,” he joked. “That doesn’t mean anyone’s signing tomorrow, but it shows they’re listening. Talks are already underway.”

With Joshua and Hearn’s proven success in boxing and other sports, their move into football could signal a major shift in how top players are represented.
