From Serie A’s Fastest to the Premier League: Tchatchoua Signs for Wolves
Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of Cameroon defender Jackson Tchatchoua from Serie A club Hellas Verona in a deal worth €12.5m (£10.8m). The 23-year-old has agreed a five-year contract at Molineux, Sport360NG reports.
Comfortable at both right-back and wing-back, Tchatchoua built a reputation in Italy for his pace, being recognised as Serie A’s quickest player last season with an average top speed of 34.88 km/h. Wolves added that he clocked a maximum of 36.3 km/h during the campaign.
In England, Tottenham centre-back Micky van de Ven was measured as the fastest player in the 2024-25 Premier League season, reaching 37.1 km/h, and he still holds the division’s record at 37.38 km/h.
Born in Belgium, Tchatchoua came through the ranks at Charleroi before moving to Verona, initially on loan, before making the switch permanent in 2024. He contributed two goals and three assists in 37 appearances for the Italian side last season.
Tchatchoua becomes Wolves’ fifth new arrival of the summer, joining Jorgen Strand Larsen (£23m, permanent after a loan spell), Fer Lopez (£19m), Jhon Arias (£15m) and David Moller Wolfe (£10m).
