Getafe president confirms Uche’s imminent €20m move to Wolves

Getafe president Ángel Torres has confirmed that Nigerian midfielder Chrisantus Uche is on the verge of completing a transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the 22-year-old expected to undergo his medical on Wednesday ahead of a €20m switch, Sport360NG reports.

Uche, who has attracted interest from several English clubs this summer, including Brentford, Leeds United and Sunderland, now looks set to continue his career in the Premier League after Wolves’ offer was accepted.

Speaking to DAZN, Torres expressed frustration over being forced to part ways with one of Getafe’s brightest prospects, criticising La Liga’s financial restrictions for leaving clubs with little choice but to sell key assets.
“We are only selling Chrisantus Uche to Wolves because of La Liga. We have to sell. La Liga is being damaged by these constant sales. I am forced to let him go. Tomorrow he has his medical and the deal will be completed with Wolves,” Torres said.

Uche’s arrival could strengthen Wolves’ attacking options, particularly with uncertainty surrounding the future of Norwegian striker Jørgen Strand Larsen. Newcastle United are reportedly keen on the forward, valuing him at around £50m as they search for a replacement for Alexander Isak.

Wolves, however, are reluctant to sanction Larsen’s departure, with head coach Vítor Pereira keen to keep the Norwegian and potentially form a partnership with Uche. The Molineux side are still looking for their first points of the season after opening defeats against Manchester City and Bournemouth.
