Neves Hits Hat-Trick as PSG disgrace Toulouse in Ligue 1 Goal Fest
Joao Neves delivered a stunning performance with a quickfire double of overhead kicks before completing a hat-trick, as Paris Saint-Germain overcame Toulouse 6-3 in a pulsating Ligue 1 clash that featured four penalties, Sport360NG reports.
The champions made a blistering start, racing into a two-goal lead inside nine minutes. Neves, the 20-year-old Portugal international, opened the scoring with a spectacular overhead strike into the top corner, before Bradley Barcola calmly beat Guillaume Restes to double the advantage.
Just moments later, Neves struck again in similar fashion, controlling Achraf Hakimi’s cross and finishing acrobatically past Restes to make it 3-0. Toulouse’s evening went from bad to worse when Ousmane Dembele converted from the spot after Desire Doue was brought down inside the area.
The hosts eventually found some momentum, with England Under-21 international Charlie Cresswell turning home a rebound to reduce the deficit. They could have pulled closer, but Cristian Casseres saw two penalties saved, PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier was punished for encroachment on the first but denied him again from the retake.
After the break, PSG restored control when Dembele netted a second penalty following a foul on Barcola. Neves then capped his outstanding night in the 78th minute with a thunderous strike from distance to complete his treble.
Toulouse grabbed two late goals through Yann Gboho and Alexis Vossah, but the damage had already been done as PSG maintained their perfect start to the season, sitting top with three wins from three.
Elsewhere in Ligue 1 on Saturday, Lille stunned Lorient with five goals after the 77th minute in a remarkable 7-1 victory.
