CAF reiterates mandatory coaching licence requirements for national teams, clubs

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has formally reminded its Member Associations, including the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of the compulsory coaching qualifications required for participation in its competitions, Sport360NG reports.

In a communication circulated to federations, CAF emphasised that the directive covers all categories of competition under its jurisdiction. This includes men’s and women’s national teams, inter-club tournaments, and the prestigious CAF Women’s Champions League.

The continental governing body stressed that only coaches who fully satisfy the prescribed licensing and certification standards will be eligible for accreditation for international fixtures and permitted to occupy the technical bench on matchdays.

CAF acknowledged the cooperation of its Member Associations in enforcing the regulations, noting that adherence to the framework has played a key role in strengthening professionalism and safeguarding the credibility of its competitions.

“We deeply appreciate the commitment and dedication of the Member Associations in ensuring the successful implementation of these requirements, which have significantly enhanced the integrity of CAF inter-club competitions and the Women’s Champions League,” the statement read.

The organisation reaffirmed its resolve to maintain high professional standards across African football by insisting on strict compliance with its coaching regulations in all sanctioned tournaments.
